In 2008 several Canby churches started The Canby Center (TCC) in an attempt to meet the rising numbers of community members experiencing housing insecurity.
Since then, TCC and it's community partners have sought new and innovative ways to provide working poor families with the tools they need to thrive. We envision a community where every person can experience the love of God through relationships and the tangible provision of clothing, food, and education resources. Offering both membership-based and emergency-responsive services, our holistic and relational approach in a judgement-free environment aims to renew personal dignity and strengthen faith in a loving community.
TCC is blessed by the support of more than 20 churches, thousands of individuals, many regional and national foundations, and more than 30 local businesses and service club.
In God's love, we renew dignity and inspire learning for youth and families.
We share God’s love through our service and our words; we introduce people to Jesus Christ
Compassion motivates our care, grace fills our relationships, everyone has something to share.
With hope, we meet people where they are but don’t leave them there, we encourage personal responsibility, we enable God-given gifts.
poverty-alleviating and dignity-strengthening programs for youth and families.
The Canby Center is a growing, faith-based, service oriented 501c3 nonprofit with a unique model which seeks to engage clients in their own growth as they are surrounded by a loving community. Our programs are growing through expanding partnerships with local churches, service clubs, donors, and The Canby School District.
The focus of our vision is to provide poverty-alleviating, dignity-strengthening programs for youth and families. In the coming five years, we will inspire learning and life-change in ways we never have before with powerful mentoring programs and energizing life skills education.
When we fulfill this vision, our clients will be on a path to living sustainable, community-minded, and God honoring lives. The community of Canby will be healthier physically, relationally, and spiritually. The Canby Center itself will be operating at optimal capacity in facilities which support our programs well.
Our vision beyond the coming five years is to share what we have learned with other communities interested in reproducing our faith-based, dignity focused model. The Canby Center is a beautiful picture of what a community can accomplish when we lay down our differences and take up a shared mission to care for "the least of these" among us.
