Frequently Asked Questions

Is transportation available?

  • Unfortunately we will be unable to provide transportation this summer.

Can I drop my student off before 9am?

  • The camp activities begin at 9am, but student check-in and breakfast will be available between 8:40-9:00am. Please walk your student to the registration table to check-in on the first day of camp.

Will food be provided?

  • Yes! Student breakfast and lunch will be provided. Allergies: note this on your student's registration form; we will do our very best to accommodate their needs.

Who will be working at camp?

  • A team of enthusiastic, qualified, and screened staff and volunteers from The Canby Center will lead our camps.

Should my student bring any supplies to camp?

  • Students should be prepared for active outdoor play in clothing that can get dirty. Hats, sunscreen, and water bottles are recommended as many activities will be outside.

I am a parent or guardian of a student at camp. Can I help out?

  • All volunteers must complete an application and background check process in addition to training meetings prior to involvement.  Parents/guardians are welcome to volunteer if you have completed this engagement process.  To get started volunteering email: info@thecanbycenter.org with your desired dates of involvement.

Where can I get more information?

  • You can email us at info@thecanbycenter.org anytime with questions as they arise.  All registered students will receive an email in the week prior to camp with any additional information.

Volunteer at Camp

Join us for a week!

  • We are really excited about the opportunity for students to engage with staff, volunteers and friends in small groups as they navigate exciting camp experiences.  To make this happen we are looking for volunteers that are excited to commit to a full week of impact: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 1:30 pm. This commitment will pay dividends in the lives of these students, building powerful trustworthy connections.

Share your Strengths!

  • If time is a constraint and your passion to be involved is high, we do have other areas of volunteer opportunity, during camp week and throughout the advanced prep weeks.  Please proceed through the application and make clear your availability and interest so we can work on the best fit for your strengths.

Volunteer Screening Process

  • Volunteers must complete the screening process prior to volunteering. Once you apply, you will be sent additional information about background checks. Additionally, volunteers are required to attend a training session prior to the beginning of camp. You will be contacted with the date and time of the training session shortly after you apply.

Feel free to contact us at info@thecanbycenter.org if you have questions at any point in the process.
